Some ladies wear their breast prosthesis and bras for special occasions only, when they want to look especially nice. What’s wrong with this? At first blush it seems like a reasonable way to get the longest life out of your breast form and bras however; when we wear something infrequently, we never really get use to it. Have you ever had to get used to a new prescription lenses in your eye glasses? Would you wear the new prescription on special occasions only, when you really needed to see, or would you persevere through those first few days while your eyes adjust to the new prescription?
If your prosthesis feels too heavy, first investigate a new bra; a correctly fitted bra can make a huge difference. Women are notorious for looking after everyone else before themselves - when was the last time you had your bra size checked? Bra fittings are free at Elizabeth’s, we are happy to teach you what to look for in a well-fitting bra. Like clothes, different manufacturers have different size standards so you may be comfortable in different sizes depending on the style and manufacturer of the bra. I can no longer wear the 36A I wore in my twenties (unless you butter me up and drop me from the CN tower), at 52 I require a different band, cup and style - thank goodness I know where to find what I need.
